An Air Traveller's Guide to Toronto

Flights to Toronto

Toronto is the most populated city in Canada and the provincial capital of Ontario. Toronto is also one of the most multicultural and progressive cities on the planet, with over 140 languages spoken here and more than half of Toronto's residents being born outside of Canada. Torontonians are known for their friendly, easy-going nature, meaning it's easy to meet and make new friends here.

This is a fun city, with plenty of excellent restaurants and theatres, opera, art galleries and museums, making it something of a cultural hub too. With a multi-ethnic population that represents around 200 nations, there is an assorted food scene, with chefs living by the mantra 'fresh is best' and focusing on local produce.

Things to do in Toronto

One of the city's most iconic sights is the CN Tower, a huge spike-tipped tower with a revolving restaurant that has breath-taking views. Buildings such as this make for a spectacular backdrop to the New Year's Eve festivities, making it an ideal place to ring in the New Year. Take your pick from one of the city's many glamorous venues, including Embrujo Flamenco, to make your evening unforgettable. Other fantastic events here include Canada Blooms, a gigantic 10-day gardening and flower show featuring exhibition gardens and prize-winning floral arrangements.

History enthusiasts will love the Royal Ontario Museum, with its huge selection of natural and cultural exhibits. Like the population, the attractions here are diverse and include Casa Loma, a stately castle with green seasonal gardens, Ripley's Aquarium of Canada and the Hockley Hall of Fame, which houses famous artefacts and play-along games.

This is a bustling metropolis with skyscrapers at its heart, as well as plenty of urban green spaces including the Queen's Park and 400-acre High Park, with a zoo, sports facilities and walking trails. Being a tourist is easy here, with plenty of great things to see and do.
