Greece, the country you never want to leave...

7 undiscovered places in Greece:

1. Lefkada, Ionian Islands
2. Lesbos, Aegean Archipelago
3. Chios, Aegean Archipelago
4. Naxos, Cyclades
5. Paros, Cyclades
6. Kalamata, Mainland
7. Kalava, Mainland

1. Lefkada, Ionian Islands

Lefkada, also known as Lefkas, belongs to the Ionian Islands and is connected to the mainland by a 50-metre-long bridge. Lefkas is known for its azure blue sea, hospitable people and is also considered one of the greenest islands in Greece. In other words, the ideal island for a tropical vacation. Immerse yourself in the authentic Greek culture, admire all the cultural heritage, unwind on the white sandy beaches and go adventure in the green bays.

2. Lesbos (Lesvos), Aegean Archipelago

Do you like to travel off the beaten path? And are you looking for a memorable vacation? Then fly to Lesbos (Lesvos)! It is next to Crete and Evia, the largest Greek island but (fortunately) not yet discovered by many tourists. On Lesbos, you'll experience authentic Greek culture, get lost in authentic villages and unwind on secluded beaches. But even for the beautiful busy bees among us, there is plenty to do on the island. From windsurfing to sailing, cycling and hiking, you won't be bored for a moment on Lesbos. The hospitality, the Mediterranean climate and the beauty of the island will make you never want to leave Lesbos...

3. Chios, Aegean Archipelago

Welcome to the fairy Chios, or the island of Homer! Chios has a rich history that constantly makes you feel like you are in the ancient Greek era. Admire the classical antiquity in Chios town, enjoy the taste of fresh flavours of the Greek cuisine and feel the warm sun rays. Go kayaking along the coast, admire the ancient Nea Moni Monastery, go hiking in the rugged natur* and watch the enchanting sunrise or sunset. Did you know that Chios is only six km from the Turkish coast? So you can see the sun rise behind Turkey if you stay on the east coast of the island. On clear days you can also see the Turkish coast, nice to wave at the neighbouring country!

4. Naxos, Cyclades

The island of Naxos has a rugged and green nature, not to mention its 148 km long coastline and the picturesque villages. It is the ideal holiday destination for those looking for a combination of relaxing on the beach, an adventure in the mountains and for those who want to get lost in the atmospheric shopping streets. This is a typical island where you would love to buy a holiday home or cottage and come back every year...

From Naxos you can easily hop to the neighbouring island of Paros, so you can discover two islands in 1 trip! In other words, book your flight tickets and go!

5. Paros, Cyclades

On Paros, stroll through the picturesque fishing villages, full of white houses and get the typical Mamma Mia feeling. Enjoy tzatziki and a good glass of wine in a typical Taverna and relax on the beautiful beaches. Paros is a completely different island from Naxos and since these two islands are close to each other, it is nice to experience the combination of these two islands if you're planning a visit around here. Let's go island hopping! 😍

6. Kalamata, Mainland

There are also plenty of hidden gems to be found on the mainland. The city of Kalamata is a wonderfully quiet port city, located in southern Greece, that has not yet been discovered by mass tourism. It is a typical Greek city, full of old white houses, narrow streets and is known as the 'olive paradise' in Greece. The area around Kalamata is also wonderful to explore, especially for the cycling enthusiasts among us, this is a fantastic city to visit; there are no less than 85 cycling routes in and around the Kalamata area. Admire the green surroundings, relax on the beautiful beaches and/or get lost and explore the old city centre.

7. Kalava, Mainland

Kavala is a city on the coast of Greece. The Roman castle is the centre of the city and can be seen from anywhere. The old town is built on a hill which makes it extra special. Stroll along the pastel coloured houses, enjoy the most beautiful views and feast on typical Greek food at the harbour. And oh yes, culture lovers pay attention! You can taste the city's history in these two museums: The Archeological Museum of Kavala and the Historical and Ethnological Museum of the Greeks of Cappadocia.
