Events in New York

You'll never have trouble finding something to keep you occupied during your trip to NYC.

Pancake Tuesday (February)

Celebrate Shrove Tuesday in New York the American way, a tall stack of fluffy buttermilk pancakes topped with maple syrup. Check out Ellen’s Stardust Diner for breakfast, to experience a hybrid of Broadway meets brekkie in the heart of Times Square.

Fashion Week (February)

Find your inner fashionista. If you're in town in February, no visit to NYC is complete without taking in some of Fashion Week. See what's up and coming in the fashion world, get some style tips, or stock up on a few key pieces to reinvigorate your wardrobe.

Soccer Season (February - March)

Don’t ask for football in New York, unless you want to watch a game of American football. Soccer is a less popular sport in New York, but you can still catch the game at many different bars around the city. Head over to the Football Factory at Legends in Midtown. There are 3 floors with 50 tv’s and 2 huge screens for your entertainment. Or why not watch the New York Red Bulls play at their home stadium in the Red Bull Arena, located in New Jersey.

St. Patrick's Day Parade (March)

You'd be hard pushed to find a bigger St. Patrick's Day celebration outside of Ireland. Fish out your finest green clothing, reach for a freshly poured pint of Guinness and get set for a party you'll remember.

Easter (April-May)

Easter is a less celebrated holiday in New York. Shops and attractions are open as normal, which won’t hinder your plans. A small Easter Parade takes place each year on Fifth Avenue between 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, but it is no comparison to the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in March. An Easter Sunday Brunch Cruise is the perfect way to spend the day, saling past Manhattan’s highlights, such as the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Shakespeare in the Park (July and August)

The perfect way to spend a summer’s day in New York, watching a classic Shakespeare play in Central Park. Tickets for Shakespeare in the Park are free, but very difficult to get your hands on because there are often surprise celebrity actors in the cast. You can either queue up for a few hours or buy tickets, which guarantees you a reserved seat.

NYC Food and Wine Festival (October)

There's plenty of food festivals held throughout the year in New York, but this four day event is one of the biggest and best. Discover new delicacies from around the globe and give your taste buds a whole new range of experiences. Perfect for trying something different and expanding your own culinary prowess.

New York Film Festival (September)

Held annually at the Lincoln Centre, this has been one of the leading film festivals ever since it began in 1963. In addition to honouring the best in class with awards, the festival also plays host to a range of exciting activities that members of the public can engage with.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (November)

Even if you're not American, you'll love the atmosphere of this parade. Held annually and sponsored by retail giant Macy's, this three-hour event kicks off in the morning and includes a busy schedule of parades and performances with world-class talent on the roster. Make sure you beat the crowds if you can and pick out your spot early to secure yourself a winning view and save yourself disappointment.

Boxing Day (December)

Spending the Christmas holidays in New York? Boxing Day isn’t a celebrated holiday in New York, but it gives you plenty of choice as shops and attractions will be open. Spend the day ice skating in Central Park or book your tickets well in advance for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, a perfect Christmas show for all the family starring the Rockettes.

New Year's Eve (December)

New Year's Eve is a big event in New York and one of the world's most famous celebrations. Thounsands of people spend it in Time Square to watch the popular Time Square Ball Drop. Celebrate with New Yorkers and people from all over the world!
