Flights to Los Angeles

Los Angeles is a large Southern California city that's famous for being the heart of America's film and television industries. The city, whose name means 'City of the Angels', is located in a vast coastal basin which on three sides is surrounded by tall mountains that reach up to and beyond 10,000 feet. Los Angeles has a famously warm, Mediterranean-style climate and an ethnically diverse population spread over the sprawling megalopolis - it's no surprise to find out it's the second-largest city in the United States after New York.

Los Angeles was claimed by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo for Spain in 1542 along with what would later become Alta California. It was declared part of Mexico following the Mexican War of Independence and later purchased by the United States, becoming first a municipality and later a fully-fledged state in 1850. The city experienced a huge surge in growth when oil was discovered there and it's now a truly global city with a varied economy based on finance, fashion, media, culture, sports, technology and medicine. You'll find plenty of iconic sights here including the Hollywood sign, famous film studios such as Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios and Warner Brothers. There's also the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where your favorite celebrities are immortalised with stars on the walkway.
